The Fencing Marshal is responsible for overseeing the conduct of all period fencing, as well as related activities. The Fencing Marshal bears primary responsibility for promoting both the safety and authenticity of the period fencing in the shire, but works with other officers in their areas of mutual interest.
A fencing marshal must, by definition, be an authrozed rapier fighter and a warranted rapier marshal. If they are not warranted, they can be made a Marshal in Training by the Kingdom Rapier Marshall, but they still have to be authorized in rapier.In addition, while groups can nominate their own Group Rapier Marshals, the position is technically an appointment by the Kingdom Rapier Marshall, and requires that office's approval of the candidate. Group practices can only be run by a group rapier marshal or group rapier marshal in training.
The Fencing Marshall should also have a desire to the studies of the art and its fostering. The Fencing Marshal is responsible for written reports to the Kingdom; a copy of said reports are to be forwarded to the Seneschal.
